Smart City Expo Curitiba announces the date of the 5th edition

The second largest smart city event in the world will be held on March 20, 21 and 22, 2024

Second biggest event in Fira Barcelona in the world, second only to the Spanish fair, the Smart City Expo Curitiba has just announced the date of its 5th edition: it will be in the days March 20, 21 and 22, 2024 at the Positivo Events Center (Parque Barigui). The event has been organized since 2018 by the hub iCities with support from City Hall of Curitiba and Pinhão Valley.

The announcement was first made by Beto Marcelino, founding partner of iCities, this Tuesday (9), during a panel on smart cities that was part of the Ventiur Week CWB, an innovation, startup and investment event held by Ventiur at Accelera Hub, in Curitiba. In addition to Beto, the panel brought together specialists Giles Balbinotti, superintendent of innovation at the Paraná State Innovation Secretariat (SEI), and Marcos Fortuna, CEO of Two Dogs. The mediation was done by Carlos Klein, partner and investment director at Ventiur Smart Capital. The Ventiur Week CWB schedule is available on the site.

With a record audience of 15 people, the fourth edition of Smart City Expo Curitiba, in March 2023, brought together representatives from 450 city halls, 26 states plus the Federal District, 180 speakers and 65 exhibitors. The potential for new business generated in the three days of Smart City Expo Curitiba 2023 was R$150 million. The value is almost four times greater than that recorded in the 2022 edition, when it reached R$40 million. In addition, the total attendance made the event the second largest in the world held by Fira Barcelona in the last 13 years, behind only the world edition in Barcelona (Spain), the Smart City Expo World Congress.

Business roundtable

This year's Business Round brought together interested parties from six countries (Sweden, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Taiwan and Argentina) and 11 Brazilian states (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rondônia, Maranhão, Paraíba, Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District). There were more than 120 meetings over the three days of the event, with more than 80 companies acting directly in conversations that point to partnerships in excess of R$150 million.

“For 2024, iCities projects something even better, consolidating the effective presence of Smart Week participants, the schedule of visits made by delegations of public and private managers who visit companies and entities in the days before the main event. We will also have an even larger and more attractive space at the next Smart City Expo Curitiba”, anticipates Caio Castro, managing partner of iCities.
